Relax and enjoy a sunset over the #JamesRiver.
The Potterfield Memorial Bridge is the James’s newest pedestrian bridge, connecting Manchester to Browns Island and drawing in 20,000-40,000 visitors per month. From families enjoying the last warm rays of the sun to runners and cyclists, this bridge stays busy 24/7 and gives A+ views of some the famous Hollywood rapids coveted by canoe and kayak enthusiasts.
Jefferson Park, located on the edge of Richmond’s Union Hill neighborhood, is a picturesque meeting place where friends congregate by the fountain, owners play with their dogs, and couples watch the sunset together. It also holds one of Richmond’s spookier legends beneath it- the Church Hill train tunnel. The tunnel swallowed a train and multiple lives before being sealed off in 1925.
You can find out more by attending one of the #Richmond ghost tours this fall, or simply let the legends lie and enjoy the timelaspe with us.
Rumor is that Libby Hill Park is an excellent place to watch the sunset, will we see you there?
We took our camera out for a nice stroll in Richmond to the view that gave the city it’s name. Originally called Marshall Park, Libby Hill Park was one of the first 5 to be created in #Richmond to give it’s residents fresh air from the wharf and manufacturing districts below.
While we were there we swapped stories with another photographer, shared a strawberry with a veterinarian couple hoping to see some early 4th of July fireworks, and our resident kitten videographer entertained a family who brought out their hookah, earning him a little Syrian meat bun.

A few 360 views of the Virginia Capitol Building, the Governor’s mansion, the Virginia Civil Rights monument and some of the many statues on the grounds.
The Virginia Capitol is a living landmark to American self-government. Since 1788, it has been home to the General Assembly, the oldest legislature continuously operating in the Western Hemisphere. Designed by Thomas Jefferson, the Capitol was the first public building in the New World constructed in the Monumental Classical style; it has served as a prototype for countless capitols, courthouses, municipal buildings, and even churches and residences for more than 200 years.
The Virginia War Memorial’s mission is to Honor our Veterans, Preserve our History, Educate our Youth and Inspire Patriotism in All.
Dedicated in 1956, the Memorial was originally designed to honor those Virginians who sacrificed their lives in battle during World War II and the Korean War. The Memorial now includes the names of more than 11,630 Virginia heroes, including those who served in Vietnam and the Persian Gulf, etched upon its walls.
Situated on over four acres overlooking downtown Richmond and the James River at 621 South Belvidere St., the Virginia War Memorial also includes the Paul and Phyllis Galanti Education Center which houses military-related exhibits, programs and theaters showing the award winning Virginians At War video series and the multi-dimensional film, Into Battle.
